2012-01-06: Hameln (GER), Sumpfblume
Tour Diary
After the rather exhausting drives of the last days, all members of the tour crew were really pleased about the short drive from Osnabrück to Hameln (Hamlyn). We were even able to sleep quite late and could enjoy our breakfast, even though some faces did not appear until 10 minutes after the actual departure time…
In Hameln, I really loved the cool location, while the others already knew the Sumpfblume from previous concerts. Especially the fact that there was a grand piano (!) in our backstage room made Basti and me wet our pants in excitement.
After an extensive soundcheck, me and Basti immediately sat down in front of this piano in order to jam around for our new “Elekbö” “free jazz” ending.
The location was already quite crowded and began heating up half an hour before the show started. And already at the first played note we realized that the crowd in Hameln was really up for some rock ‘n’ roll. During “Stardust” and later on during “Vortex”, the audience went completely nuts and formed the – to date – biggest circle pit that we had ever seen for that song. Unfortunately, this led to the fact that we can hardly use any photos from that show because everyone of us had such a big grin in his face.
After some kickass performances by Orden Ogan and Van Canto and some nice after-show drinks we arrived late at night in the – to date – most luxurious hotel. However, this time the night was supposed to be short again… Because tomorrow we had to drive down to Düsseldorf in order to play a worthy tour finale!
