IN LEGEND – Hand-hammered Piano Craft
Traditionally, most rock bands are dominated by guitars. Not so the case with IN LEGEND, where the mother of all instruments is the “key” component: The piano. With an uncompromising feeling for hard and flowing melodies, the ivories are hammered by Bastian Emig to an as of right now unexplored extreme. In the process he has come to understand the unique, symbiotic union of the percussive and melodic instrument in order to create rousing and sweeping songs.
IN LEGEND is the essence of an artistic process that has been pulsating in the heart and maturing in the soul of Bastian during the last 10 years. And piece by piece it has been forged and hammered into the evoking sound which now characterizes it: The perfect blend of hard, soft, and uncompromising passion!

IN LEGEND does, in no way, try to exclusively create a brand new type of sound. It is the songs which take the listener on a new aural experience.
Influenced by the rhythmical feeling and atmosphere of Burkina Faso on the African continent where he spent his early childhood, Bastian has developed into one of the finest drummers in the German rock scene. He has toured with metal and rock ‘n’ roll bands all across Europe and was also able to win the hearts of the Chinese fans as the drummer for the thrash metal band NARAKAM when he spent the years 2006 and 2007 in China. He is currently also the drummer for the world’s only metal a-cappella band VAN CANTO.
After returning to Germany from Africa, it seemed, though, that the drums weren’t the only instrument to shape his musical career. Bastian, upon his return, started to teach himself by ear how to play the piano, and he already composed many songs at a very early age without being able to read a single note of sheet music.

Whilst trying to explain his own compositions to guitarists from his early bands, Bastian had been able to develop his own style, which comprises of smooth, carrying riffs in the left hand and flowing melodies in the right, and which is also apparent in the songs. Bastian has in fact discovered the previously unchartered territory of heavy music for the piano and describes his findings befittingly:

Together with this extraordinary talent, Bastian‘s unmistakable voice ubiquitously brings together all aspects which can also be found in his drumming: Intensity, energy, and passion.
With their debut EP Pandemonium, which was released in early 2010, IN LEGEND literally burst into the open rock and metal scene, and in Spring 2010 they had the chance to present themselves to a welcoming audience for the first time. What the band offers to the listener is an unexpected but fresh approach to energetic music. The 1st studio album Ballads ‘n’ Bullets was finally released in May 2011 via SPV (Steamhammer/Oblivion), and with it the guys continue on their main mission…

With every song i hear i fall more in love with this band. The sound is so perfectttttttttt makes me fly literally! I love you, you have killed me and i will start to make the money to buy the CD! And i will start praying to be able os seeing you guys and Van Canto in my ocuntry one day!

Hey Basti, eine rundum gut gelungene Musikproduktion von “In Legend”. Deine Truppe hat mir von anfang an gefallen, als Ihr vor einem Jahr in München im Metropolis als Vorband von “Van Canto” gespielt habt. Viel Erfolg weiterhin und einen guten Start mit dem CD – Verkauf. Hoffe Euch in München oder Umgebung bzw. in Zürich ???

Wooow!!… It is interesting and incredible the history has more than enough In Legend and Bastian. I am Venezuelan and I have listened to the records of Van Canto that are extraordinary, novel and only. Bastian like baterista are good really because he/she has power and it transmits that energy that we like persibir of the metal. It is not room for doubt that he is a born musician, their emotions the reflective one through of the music. Congratulations Bastian, I liked the video and that topic Pandemonium a lot.

Hi Bastian!!
My mother is Lonny Bertha Emig, and my grand father is Willy Emig.
He come to Brasil around 1910, and may be we are parents. My grand father lived in Rolante, a small city in the Rio Grande do Sul where he lived and he was a farmacist and property of a hospital.
If you have a interest in come to Brasil, is a honor to me.
I am 53 years old, live in Porto Alegre, and my two daugther live in Australia.
